Kearney seeking second term as district judge


Pine Bluff District Judge John L. Kearney has announced his intention to run for re-election in the May 22 non-partisan judicial general election.

Kearney is completing his first term as district judge and is responsible for hearing misdemeanors, probable cause hearings, first appearances, extraditions, small claims and civil cases within the city.

A graduate of Arkansas AM&N (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff), he received his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Kearney is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Jefferson County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

He is longtime member of Faith Presbyterian Church where he has served in numerous leadership positions. He is married to Janice Kearney, and has five children.

Before being elected district judge, Kearney was in private practice in Pine Bluff.

He is running unopposed in the May primary.
