Contract employee dies following Arsenal incident, official says

An employee for a contractor at the Pine Bluff Arsenal was apparently electrocuted about 3 p.m. Tuesday, an Arsenal spokeswoman said in a news release.

A doctor pronounced Ryan Bullard, 28, dead in the emergency room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at 4:40 p.m., Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said.

The apparent cause of death was electrocution. Bullard’s body will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory Wednesday to determine the exact cause and manner of death, Kelley said.

Emergency communications dispatchers received a call from the Arsenal at 2:53 p.m., Kelley said.

Hospital records indicate that Bullard was a Mayflower resident. However, he was originally from Illinois, Kelley said.

“At approximately 3 p.m. today, a contractor employee at Pine Bluff Arsenal was involved in an accidental electrocution, resulting in his death,” Arsenal spokeswoman Chery Avery said in a news release.

An investigation is underway and no further information was available at the time, Avery said.
