On May 22, Good Samaritans from First United Methodist Church sponsored a school closing party for Merrill Community Center youth.
Motivational speaking was included as the participants shared their occupational dreams and all who were present echoed, “You can do it,” following each response. Other tips were about exercise, nutrition, and the importance of goal setting.
A senior Samaritan, Laquandaneshia Stacker, shared her plans to pursue a military career starting this summer.
Refreshments were served and children were encouraged about completing the 2011-2012 school year.
Co-sponsored by Healing Place Ministries and First United Methodist Church, the Good Samaritans Program teaches people about performing positive acts.
Residents interested in starting a Good Samaritan Ministry should contact Rev. Edna Morgan, associate pastor at First United and president of Healing Place, at 535-0935.
