Anniversaries/Annuals

The first anniversary service honoring Pastor’s Lil Angels will be celebrated starting at 6 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St. Guests will include Witnezz, Voices of Heaven, Angels of Christ, Trenton Ware, Renewed Generation, Virtuous, Men of Christ and Rev. Raeshawn Howard.

At 6 p.m. Sunday at First Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, the Pastor’s Lil Angels’ celebration continues and guests include FMBC youth choir, Angels of Christ, Nora Celestine, Williams Singers, Barnes Sisters, and Old St. James youth choir.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold its annual celebration honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Roy and Barbara Thomas, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Robert Handley, pastor of Mount Harmony Church.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will celebrate its sixth anniversary celebration service honoring its pastor and wife, Rev. Leon Williams and Laetta Williams at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.

St. Mark Baptist Church at Sherrill will hold the 41st anniversary of its Gospel choir at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Gabriel Jackson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

The 32nd anniversary service honoring Rev. Jimmy Polk will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church at Tarry. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Willie Laws Sr., pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone.

Mulberry Grove Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold its 17th appreciation service honoring Rev. Robert Anderson at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James Murry Jr., pastor of Gospel Temple Baptist Church will be the guest preacher.

The 11th anniversary honoring Rev. Carl and Earlene Johnson will be celebrated at First Baptist Church, U.S. 425 at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Alvin Lowe, pastor of Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist.

Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will honor its pastor and wife, Rev. Renice and Mary Davis for eight years of service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Alvin Robertson, pastor of Kingdom of God Ministries. A banquet will follow the service.

The second anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Michael and Mary Love, will be celebrated at Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tamo at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. A.L. Brown, pastor of Mount Nebo Baptist Church at Yorktown.

Concerts/Musicals

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church at Reed will hold its Men’s Chorus’ first musical at 6 p.m. today. The guests will include the Smith Brothers of Dumas, Reginald Rancifer, Joe Butler, Teresa Henry, Delois Davis, Rev. Johnny Smith and more.

International House of Prayer, 4302 W. 12th Ave., will hold a musical program at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The guests will be the Mighty True Lights, Sammie Smith Jr. and Nu-Begin-N.

The Southeast Community Mass Choir will sponsor a musical benefit program for Juanita Murphy and Rose Moten at 7 p.m. today at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

Revival

Oak Grove Baptist Church at Gethsemane will hold its annual revival Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. The guest speakers will be:

Monday — The lecturer will be the Rev. Darryl Graydon, pastor of First Baptist Church, and the sermon will be by the Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of Newbirth Baptist Church.

Tuesday — The lecturer will be the Rev. DeSean Jarrett, pastor of St. John Baptist Church, and the sermon will be by the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

Wednesday — The lecturer will be the Rev. Gabriel Jackson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and the sermon will be by the Rev. Carlos Kelly, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church.

Special Events

Newbirth Baptist Church will be the guest church during the ninth anniversary celebration of the Rev. J. Barrington Minix, pastor of Gaines Street Missionary Baptist Church, at Little Rock at 11 a.m. Sunday. The sermon will be by the Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of Newbirth. The congregation will leave from Newbirth at 10 a.m. en route to Little Rock.

New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold its musicians’ appreciation program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will hold its annual mission day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Jackie Flowers of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

There is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will hold its 100 Women in Red program at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will observe the 100th birthday of the connectional lay organization’s Annual Lay Day on Sunday.

At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Dorothy Henderson, president of the 12th Episcopal District Lay Organization. At 4 p.m., there will be a Gospel music explosion featuring Kendrick (KJ) Williams.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St., will host its fifth annual community fest from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. today. The event will include pony rides, tropical slide, the Tumble Weed, race, food, prizes, and more.

Daniel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold its family and friends day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Bramus Jackson, pastor of St. Stevens Missionary Baptist Church at Cornersville.

Pleasant View Ministries Church will hold its second annual Scholarship Fundraiser featuring its 1st Tea and Fashion Show at 5 p.m. today at Greater Fellowship Ministries’ Watson Convocation Center, 2401 S. Main St.

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual ushers ministry program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Billy Walker of Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at England.

True Harvest Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will hold Tuesday Night Live at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The guests will include the Rev. Patrick Hollis and Racy Brothers of Dumas.

New Community Church, 321 Birch St., will host the Freedom Conference 2012 featuring Aretha Wilson of Kingdom Ambassadors Global Ministries at Lynbrook, N.Y., at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The Church on the Rock, 5500 Dollarway Road, will celebrate Jesus Day beginning at 11 a.m. today. There will be free hot dogs and soft drinks for everyone.

The Rev. Marcus Gibson of Shady Grove Baptist Church at Columbus, Ga., will be the guest preacher during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St.
