Anniversaries/Annuals

Freedom Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will be celebrating the 17th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Brian and Jackie Dodson and family at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Clark Thomas will be the guest speaker.

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will hold its in-house annual Mission Day Program at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will hold the annual Usher Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon today conducted by Rev. Michael Stevens. Rose Hill will celebrate the Senior and Junior Ushers’ Annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. David M. Smith, pastor of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest preacher.

Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate the annual Lay Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Martha Fisher Simpson, president of East Arkansas Conference Lay Organization for the 12th Episcopal District of the AMEC.

The Church of the Living God, 3120 Gravel Pit Road, will celebrate the 32nd anniversary of their pastor and wife, Elder Theodis and Bobbie Edwards, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Archie Dolls, pastor of West Side Baptist Church at Star City, will be the guest speaker.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold its annual Mission Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.

East End Church of God in Christ, 709 Virginia St., will hold the 24th annual homecoming services Sunday. Special testimonies will begin at 11 a.m. Elder Christopher Nelson Sr., associate elder at East End, will speak at 3 p.m.

The 41st anniversary of the Spiritualettes will begin at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, at 7 p.m. today. Guests include the Mighty Gospellettes, Sensational Soul Revivals and Holley Sisters. At Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th, at 6 p.m. Sunday, the celebration will include the Barnes Brothers, Totally Committed and Williams Singers among others.

Revival

New Testament Church of God in Christ of Dumas will be holding revival services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Services will be conducted by Joe Stocker, superintendent and pastor of Main Street Church of God in Christ, and the Crusaders for Christ.

Special Events

Highland Baptist Church, 3600 W. 14th Ave., will host an HIV Awareness Day today. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., free chicken dinners will be handed out and HIV tests will be offered. At 7 p.m., a Gospel concert will begin with guests including the Gospel Sonz, Highland Church Choir, Shaw Boys and Barnes Sisters.

City Wide Mission will meet at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Christian Outreach Ministry, 4511 Faucett Road, will have its empowerment services at 9:30 a.m. today.

Jimmy Flowers, Jr., will preach his first sermon at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gethsemane at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 North Pryce, will hold Women’s Day choir rehearsals at 7 p.m. today and at 7 p.m. Friday.

First Baptist Church of Kingsland will be celebrating their Family and Friends Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Sammie Smith Jr., pastor of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Women’s/Men’s Day

New Community Baptist Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold its annual Women’s Day Sunday beginning at at 11 a.m. with Janice Lockett, the first lady and missionary of New Community, as the speaker. Tameaka Reid, pastor of United Fellowship AME Church at Cleveland, Ohio, will speak at 3 p.m.

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 2900 S. Catalpa St., will have the annual Men’s and Women’s Day service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Willie Laws of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest preacher.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold the annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will hold their annual Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Debra Canagan, an evangelist with Old St. James Baptist Church.

The Central District Women’s Auxiliary will observe their annual district Women’s Day at Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart at 10:30 a.m. today. The sermon will be by Rev.Gilbert Byrd, the host pastor.

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will have their annual Men’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ricky Bifford.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will hold their annual Women’s Day events this weekend. The Women’s Day Brunch and Ladies First Inc., Fashion Show begin at 10 a.m. today at the church’s Family Life Center. Sunday, worship begins at 11 a.m. and the guest speaker at 3 p.m. will be Nina Glover of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Texarkana, AR.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will be having the Men’s and Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest minister.

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will observe its annual Women’s Day Sunday with the morning speaker Mary Bell of Barnett Chapel. Services at 3 p.m. Sunday will feature Josephine Buffington of New Morning Star Church at Monticello as the guest speaker.

Vacation Bible School

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 S. Texas St., will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Highland Baptist Church, 3600 W. 14th Ave., will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Food will be served at 5:15 nightly. Additionally, a “Hip Hop Explosion” Fun Day will be held at 1320 S. Peach St. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 21.

Travelers Rest Baptist Church at Grady will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Youth

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 North Pryce, will hold Youth Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rickey Diger of Little Rock will be the guest speaker.

The Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will have their annual Youth Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Gregory Little of Old Morning Star will speak at the event.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 Martin St., will hold its Youth Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James Burroughs will be the guest speaker.
