Construction on a new Walgreens pharmacy at 2503 W. 28th Ave. will begin the first week of May and the store could open by early 2013, a Dallas real estate developer said Friday.
Tony Roger said the store would possibly employ 30 to 40 persons, and added that he did not believe the business would be open 24 hours a day.
Roger referred all other questions to Walgreens itself, but The Commercial’s efforts to contact administrative personnel at Walgreens’ headquarters in Deefield, Ill., were unsuccessful.
Robert Tucker, chief of the Pine Bluff Inspection and Zoning Department, verified that plans for the store had been reviewed and approved by his office. No building permit has been issued yet, Tucker said.
The store’s proposed location is at the northwest corner of the intersection of West 28th Avenue and Willow Street.
