UAPB student admitted to New England Law School


Cecilia Nuby, a senior graduating with a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will be enrolled at the New England Law School in pursuit of a Jurist Doctorate degree.

Nuby aspires to graduate with her law degree in three years and plans to become a judge.

“We are excited about her opportunity at New England Law School,” said Carla Martin, J.D., dean of the School of Business and Management. “She has a bright future ahead of her and serves as a representative of the many outstanding students we have in the School of Business and Management.”

A Flint, Michigan native, Nuby moved to Kansas in 2005 and found a new passion in modeling and graduated high school at Shawnee Mission East at the top of her class and received a scholarship for the Young Black Achievers in Business.

While at UAPB, Nuby has served as vice president of the accounting club and treasurer of the George “Doc” Jones Debate Team.

As a debater, Nuby has held two national titles in the International Public Debate Association; 7th place as individual debate, and 5th place for team debate and is also a member of Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society of Business, Management and Administration.

She will receive her degree during commencement exercises at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
