A workshop for cow-calf producers is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 7 in room 7 of the Lee County Extension office in Marianna.
Ondieki Gekara, an animal scientist at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and David Fernandez, UAPB livestock specialist, will be the main presenters.
Gekara will discuss biosecurity with emphasis on farm level biosecurity to minimize the spread of disease, supplemental feeds to increase the productivity of grazing livestock, and nutrition. Selecting the right bull for a herd, optimizing herd health to boost pregnancy rates, and using herd records to maximize profits will be covered by Fernandez.
