Dr. Seuss celebrated at Southwood

Dr. Seuss Week is ongoing at Southwood Elementary School.

On Monday, students had a breakfast of green eggs and ham. Afterward, they assembled in the gym for a reading of “The Cat in the Hat,” as read by the Cat in the Hat himself, otherwise known as Southwood Principal Alfred Carroll. The cat’s rendition of his own story received cheers and applause from the audience.

Dr. Seuss Week activities in honor of the much-loved children’s book author will continue through Friday. Other activities include Necktie Tuesday, Weird Wear Wednesday and Crazy Soxs Thursday.

Teachers will focus their lessons on Dr. Seuss, his stories and characters. The week will end with a birthday cake celebration during lunch Friday.
