Altheimer fire department receives grant

Altheimer Mayor Donald Robinson attended an awards ceremony at the Arkansas State Capitol recently where the city received an Arkansas Rural Services Block Grant for the Altheimer Fire Department, a spokesman said.

The city received $75,000 to build an addition onto the existing fire station. A press conference regarding the grant will be held at the Altheimer City Hall at 10 a.m. Monday, Robinson said.

The Department of Rural Services works in partnership with the Arkansas Rural Development Commission to select grant recipients. The grant program is funded through the U.S. Housing and Urban Development’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program, a spokesman said.
