Zero Tolerance operation targets northern Jefferson County

A massive effort by multiple law enforcement agencies targeting suspected drug shipments was conducted Friday night in the northern part of Jefferson County with a zero-tolerance campaign.

Arkansas State Troopers and officers from the Arkansas Highway Police joined officers from Redfield in establishing two sobriety checkpoints at Redfield, stopping every vehicle that came through for several hours.

Northern Jefferson County, southern Pulaski County and Grant County were the target areas for the operation after information was developed that a large amount of narcotics was expected to be delivered sometime during the first week of April.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputies also set up checkpoints on Arkansas 365 at the Hensley community while Pine Bluff Police Vice and Narcotics Officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies worked roving patrols all the way from the county line to the Pine Bluff city limits.

No official figures were available Friday night on what was seized by officers because all the reports had not been turned in.
