Interim Pine Bluff Police Chief Jeff Hubanks promoted Sgt. Michael Jenkins to the rank of lieutenant Monday, and promoted Patrolman Samuel Atkinson to the rank of sergeant.
“Today was a good day for the Pine Bluff Police Department,” Hubanks said. “Two deserving officers were promoted to higher ranks and their knowledge and work ethic will become policy for those they supervise. Our police department will benefit for years to come.”
Jenkins began his career with the police department in 1985 and has worked in Patrol, Warrants Division and Administrative Services.
“After 27 years I feel honored to have served this community and accept this promotion,” Jenkins said.
He has been assigned temporarily to the Administrative Division.
Atkinson has been a member of the police department since 2003 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. He has served as a Field Training Officer, in the Detective Division, Vice and Narcotics and the Administrative Division.
“Thank you to the community of Pine Bluff for allowing me to serve you and I look forward to continuing as a sergeant,” Atkinson said.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney administered the oath of office to Jenkins and Atkinson during the ceremony in the Japanese Garden at the Civic Center.
