Suspect in wife’s death off life support, police say

Pine Bluff police said Wednesday that a Pine Bluff man who allegedly shot his wife and then himself early Monday morning has been taken off life support at a Little Rock hospital.

Police spokeswoman Regina Vontunglen said James Goldman, 83, is sill in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, and no other information on his condition was immediately available.

Goldman allegedly shot his wife, Betty Goldman, 81, then himself at the home they shared at 2504 Kenwood Drive.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said Betty Goldman was pronounced dead at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner David Westbrook, who listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
