Storms in area through this evening


• 8:15 p.m. update : Severe weather warnings have expired in the Jefferson County area and most of the rest of Southeast Arkansas.

• 6:15 p.m. update: The National Weather Service has added Arkansas, Desha, Drew and Lincoln counties to a severe thunderstorm watch that is effective until 9 p.m.

• 6:00 p.m. update: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning effective until 6:45 p.m. for Jefferson County, west central Arkansas County and southern Grant County.

At 5:59 p.m. radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from five miles north of Hensley Island to four miles northwest of Pine Bluff Arsenal to five miles southeast of Sheridan to four miles east of Leola moving east at 35 mph.

The warned area includes Interstate 530 between mile markers 20 and 46.

• 5:45 p.m. update: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning effective until 6:15 p.m. for northwestern Cleveland County, Dallas County and southern Grant County.

At 5:41 p.m. radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line from 10 miles southwest of Leola to three miles south of Sparkman to seven miles southeast of Prescott; moving east at 50 mph.

• 5 p.m. update: The National Weather Service has added Jefferson county to a severe thunderstorm watch that is effective until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. Monday night for a number of counties west and south of Pine Bluff including Grant and Dallas counties.

At 4:09 p.m. the NWS issued a significant weather advisory for southern Jefferson County, northern Lincoln County, extreme southeastern Grant County, extreme southeastern Dallas County and northern Cleveland County until 5 p.m.

NWS was tracking a storm near Grays Lake moving northeast at 50 mph. The storm is expected to have hail up to one-half inch in diameter, 40 mph wind gusts and frequent lightning.

Areas including Pine Bluff, Star City and Rison are included in this advisory.

The storm may intensify as it moves northeast according to the NWS.
