Arkansas Special Olympics Area IX is sponsoring the area bowling tournament for all Special Olympic athletes in Jefferson, Lincoln, Grant, Arkansas and Prairie counties.

The students take part in the five day event with food and plenty of bowling and when the bowling is done, athletes will compete in flag football in December, according to area director Travis Chisom.

The bowling tournament is being held at Thunder Lanes Bowling Alley and so far has featured the Pine Bluff School District students on Nov. 2 while Sheridan and DeWitt students bowled Friday.

Tuesday will feature Dollarway students and Thursday, students from Watson Chapel and White Hall schools will bowl. On Nov. 16, Jenkins Memorial Center students will participate, Chisom said.
