Small plane crashes in Bradley County

A small aircraft crashed Monday morning into a field south of the Warren Municipal Airport.

The pilot began to have engine trouble upon takeoff and was attempting to get the single-engine plane back to the runway when it crashed into field about 150 to 200 yards south of the runway, according to Bradley County Sheriff Rick Anders.

The pilot and a passenger were transported by ambulance to a hospital where they wee being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Neither of the plane’s occupants, who were not identified, are local residents but do have relatives in the Warren area, Anders said.

Local authorities are awaiting the FAA to arrive to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash, according to Anders.
