REDFIELD — The Keep Redfield Middle School Task Force will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Post 343 to brief residents on steps taken by the task force, chairman Todd Dobbins told the Redfield City Council on Tuesday.
The White Hall School Board voted 4-2on Jan. 8 to close Redfield Middle School at the end of the current school year and transfer the students to White Hall Middle School.
“If they ever move your children, you will never get them back,” Dobbins said at the conclusion of Tuesday’s council meeting.
Ronald Meredith, task force vice chairman, received no encouragement after addressing the state Board of Education meeting Monday in Little Rock.
The council approved resolutions Tuesday amending the 2012 municipal budget and adopting the 2013 city departmental budgets by unanimous votes.
City councils frequently amend budgets to match revenues and expenditures at the end of a calendar year.

It was the first council meeting for four of the six aldermen, who were sworn in on Jan. 1. The four freshmen are Glen Flemmons, Ward 1, Position 1; Carol Eagle, Ward 1, Position 2; Larry O’Briant, Ward 2, Position 2; and Diann Smith, Ward 3, Position 1.
Incumbent Sandra G. Garrett holds the Ward 2, Position 1, council seat, while Darrell Hedden retained his Ward 3, Position 2, seat in the November general election.
