Quorum Court to meet Tuesday because of holiday

Because of the Veteran’s Day holiday Monday, the Jefferson County Courthouse will be closed and the quorum court will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The panel will vote on five items which were recommended by committees last week. These include consideration of a proposed appropriation ordinance transferring $3,803.85 from County General to the sheriff’s department to complete the purchase of K-9 Sgt. Reis and buy a bullet proof vest for the dog. The funds were deposited in County General earlier and earmarked for the department’s canine unit.

An ordinance transferring $17,266.72 from the Circuit Court Juvenile Division to the General Fund, then to the Sixth Division of Circuit Court-Juvenile Court will also be voted on. Those funds will be used for fuel, oil and lubricants, computer expenses, office supplies, and other items.

A resolution reappointing Anna Marie Jacks to the Pine Bluff-Jefferson County Library Board for a five-year term is also on the agenda, as is an appropriation ordinance to disburse funds received from insurance claims to various county agencies and departments.

Budget hearings for the 2013 County General and County Road Departments, which had originally been scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8 will be held Nov. 27. The county did not receive information on new health insurance rates in time to keep the original schedule and that delayed the process of making necessary adjustments.
