Four Jefferson County Quorum Court committees met Tuesday night and took unanimous actions on eight items.
The community developments/grants committee, chaired by Justice of the Peace Ted Harden, sent two items on to the full court with do-pass recommendations. One was a resolution declaring opposition to the federal Blueway Designation on the White River “due to a lack of notification, public hearings and definitions in a memorandum of understanding.” The other is an appropriation ordinance providing $10,700 to a voting systems grant fund and establishing an elections department.
The committee decided to pull a proposed appropriation ordinance calling for providing a $20,000 transfer within the Jefferson County Jail fund to support Pine Bluff’s summer youth employment program. The committee was informed that the jail fund was short of that amount.
The Justice of the Peace Mandy Alford-chaired judicial committee decided to forward on to the finance committee with a do-pass recommendation an appropriation ordinance transferring funds from the circuit court juvenile division fund to the county general fund and to provide for a supplemental appropriation of $45,900.52 from there to the circuit court 6th Division-juvenile court.
Sent to the finance committee with a do-pass recommendation from the Justice of the Peace Delton Wright-chaired health and welfare committee was an appropriation ordinance providing for a $15,000 supplemental appropriation from the county general fund to the coroner department.
The finance committee, chaired by Justice of the Peace Herman Ginger, forwarded to the full court with do-pass recommendations three appropriation ordinances: the voting systems grant fund, juvenile court and coroner measures.
