Police seek hit-and-run driver

Pine Bluff police are asking for help in locating the driver of a vehicle that left the scene of a pedestrian accident that injured two people — one of them seriously — late Friday night.

Capt. Greg Shapiro said Erick Green, 19, and Jonathan Haney, 20, were struck by a black SUV while they were walking east on West 6th Avenue near Young Street at about 11:56 p.m.

Green received what were described as minor injuries while injuries to Haney were said to be life-threatening. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, then transferred to University Hospital at Little Rock.

Shapiro said anyone with information about the incident should contact the Detective Division at 730-2090 or the dispatch center at 541-5300. All calls will be kept confidential and a reward is available for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons involved.
