Two Pine Bluff police officers were promoted to higher ranks Tuesday, according to Interim Chief Jeff Hubanks.
Hubanks said former Sgt. Edna Butler was promoted to lieutenant, and will be temporarily assigned to Administration. Butler began her career with the department Jan. 23, 1995, and was formerly assigned to the Patrol Division.
Officer Phillip Gober was promoted to sergeant, and will be assigned to the Patrol Division as a shift sergeant. He joined the department Aug. 22, 2001 and was assigned to Patrol Division.
“I have served with Sgt. Gober in both patrol and SWAT,” Hubanks said. “He is an outstanding officer and will make an outstanding sergeant.
“I have served with Lt. Butler in numerous capacities over the years and she is one of my dearest friends,” Hubanks said. “It was especially poignant for me to have the honor of promoting L.t Butler and playing a small role in correcting a great wrong done to her in the past.”
