Pine Bluff school board approves painting bids in called meeting


The Pine Bluff School District Board of Directors approved a bid for the painting of Jack Robey Junior High School and another for the painting of Southeast Middle School during a special called meeting Thursday evening.

Prior to the vote district superintendent Linda Watson recommended the board approve the Dunlap Painting bid of $55,600 for Jack Robey and the Smith Paint bid of $35,500 for Southeast.

The approved bids were the low bids for each project.

Personnel

In other business the board approved a series of personnel recommendations including the hiring of certified personnel Benjamin Bell as a physical science teacher at Jack Robey effective Aug. 8; Kerri Bone as a remediation teacher at Southeast effective Aug. 8; Tanya Hayes as a math teacher at Southeast effective Aug. 8; Myra Jarmon as a special education teacher at Pine Bluff High School effective Aug. 8; Genese Obiaga as a civics teacher at Jack Robey effective Aug. 8; Latauna Perkins as a science teacher at Jack Robey effective Aug. 8; Anthony Pitts as an English teacher at PBHS; Amber Lee Robinson as a speech pathologist at 34th Elementary effective July 1; Alisa Smith-Digby as a social studies teacher at PBHS effective Aug. 8; Sheena Smith as a special education teacher at 34th Elementary effective Aug. 8; Karen Story as a psychological examiner at PBHS effective July 1; and Joanna Ward as an English teacher at Jack Robey.

The board approved the hiring of classified personnel Shalotta McDonald as a paraprofessional at Southeast Middle School; and Kim Mixon II as a paraprofessional at Southeast Middle School both effective Aug. 19.

The board approved the transfer of certified personnel Elfreda Boyd from counselor at Jack Robey to a counselor at PBHS effective July 30; Darnesia Carter from special education teacher at 34th Elementary to special education consultant at 34th Elementary effective Aug. 8; Rosie Lacy from special education teacher at Southeast to counselor at Jack Robey effective July 30; and Bernie Roberts from counselor at Greenville Elementary to counselor at Jack Robey effective July 30.

The board approved the resignation of classified personnel Reshundra Gaston-Eddington as a paraprofessional at Southeast effective June 26; Eddie Gipson as a maintenance man/truck driver effective May 28; and Specyal Mills as a security officer effective June 21.

The board approved the resignation of certified personnel Carissa Mixon as a preschool teacher at Forrest Park pre-school effective June 28; Pamela Neal as a third grade teacher at 34th Elementary effective May 31; and Dudley Webb III as a sixth grade literacy teacher at Belair Middle School effective June 20.

The board approved the retirement of classified personnel Mary Sloan as a paraprofessional at W. T. Cheney Elementary effective May 31.
