A Pine Bluff man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on West Sixth Avenue Wednesday night.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Durell Huckaby, 26, who was pronounced dead at 10:46 p.m. at the scene. Kelley said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The accident was reported at approximately 10:10 p.m.
According to police Lt. David Price, Huckaby was driving a black Nissan Altima east on Sixth Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle made contact with a second vehicle that was also eastbound. The Nissan continued east on Sixth Avenue at a high rate of speed, Price said in a press release.
Arkansas Highway 190 curves to the left (north) at Spruce Street and as the Nissan approached Spruce Street, still at a high rate of speed, it left the roadway on the south side, rolled over several times, and came to rest next to 1920 W. Sixth Ave.
Price said there were no reported injuries to occupants of the other vehicle, and there were no other known occupants in the Nissan.
He said the crash is still under investigation and why the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed has not been determined.
