No charges to be filed in alleged robbery

Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter has decided not to file charges against a man arrested in December on charges of robbery and third-degree battery.

Division One District Judge Kim Bridgforth signed an order last week releasing Chad A. Russell, 21, “from any further obligation” to appear on the charges.

Russell was arrested Dec. 8 after police were called to a bar on Dollarway Road, and according to a police report, the victim claimed that Russell had hit him from behind, and took money and a cell phone.

After a court appearance Dec. 10, a $25,000 bond was set for Russell and the order signed by the judge authorizes the sheriff to return 90 percent of that bond to Russell or his designated person.
