NLR police still seeking investigating former Pine Bluff resident’s death

North Little Rock Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Brian Dedrick said Thursday that the agency is still seeking the public’s help in tracking down a suspect vehicle in the Aug. 14 shooting death of 31-year-old Samantha Jo Doucet Olson of North Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff.

Olson, who attended Pine Bluff High School, was killed when an unknown assailant or assailants fired several shots from a passing vehicle into a small passenger car Olson was driving in the vicinity of the heavily traveled intersection of John F. Kennedy and McCain boulevards. Olson’s 11-month old daughter, Linnea Gabrielle Olson, was in the back seat of her mother’s car and escaped injury.

Police soon requested the public’s help in searching for a suspect vehicle, a 2007-10 red or maroon Ford F-150 extended-cab pickup truck, possibly with an orange tool box or welding in its bed.

Dedrick said the city of North Little Rock and a private individual are each offering $5,000 rewards for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. The reward could be up to $11,000 with a possible addition of $1,000.

Dedrick said a 24-hour telephone tip line is open at 501-680-8439.

He said an anonymous “Text a Tip” telephone text service is also available. “The text number is 274637,” Dedrick said. “Type in NLR as the keyword and then type your message.”

Dedrick said the police department would not be able to see the telephone number of the texter, but would be able to respond through a coded exchange allowing investigators to ask for additional information if it’s needed.”
