FAYETTEVILLE — The National Agricultural Law Center is hosting a series of producer workshop meetings throughout Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi that will focus on farm bill reauthorization, federal crop insurance, environmental regulation, and other current legal and policy issues of direct interest to producers.
“This is an opportunity to help equip mid-south farmers with the knowledge they need to navigate their industry in the coming year,” said Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
Pittman and Grant Ballard, Center Research Consultant and Associate with the Banks Law Firm PLLC will be presenters at each workshop.
Each workshop begins at 10 a.m. and runs until noon. There is no charge to attend and lunch will be served.
The workshop schedule:
• Oct. 23 — Delhi, La., at the Richland Parish - Delhi Civic Center, 232 Denver St.
• Nov. 1 — Clarksdale, Miss., at the Clarksdale Train Station, 100 Blues Alley Lane, Clarksdale, MS 38614
• Nov. 6 — Stuttgart, Ark., at the Grand Prairie Center, 2709 Highway 165 South
• Jan. 31, 2013 — Rohwer, Ark., at the Rowher Research Station: From Hwy. 65, exit on Hwy. 138 East at Winchester and proceed about 15 miles to Hwy. 1. The Station is located at the intersection of Hwy. 138 and Hwy. 1. The Station office is about .75 miles north of the intersection.
