Monticello man accused in death of Warren woman

Tenth Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen said he will ask a judge to find probable cause to hold 50-year-old Fred Lee Williams on suspicion of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of a Warren woman.

Williams, of Monticello, reportedly directed authorities Sunday to a grave near his home where 36-year-old Tangela Walton’s body was uncovered. Walton was reported missing by her family on April 5 after failing to return home.

The body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine manner and cause of the death.

Williams, who is being held in the Drew County Detention Center, is also facing an unrelated felon in possession of a firearm charge.
