Mayor Debe Hollingsworth has called for a special meeting of the Pine Bluff City Council at 1 p.m. Friday in the civic center’s council chambers.
The council’s administration committee had planned a meeting at that time and may still have a brief session.
Hollingsworth said she called for the special council meeting after Arkansas Municipal League attorney Mark Hayes told her Thursday afternoon that he could be available at that time to address the mayor and council on his opinions concerning the council’s present guidance on residency requirements for department heads, including the police and fire chiefs.
“I appreciate Mr. Hayes making time to speak to us on this matter,” said Hollingsworth. “I think it will be beneficial for everyone.”
Hollingsworth emphasized that council meetings are always open to the public and she urges interested citizens to attend.
