Jefferson County storm damage from straight line winds, officials say

A survey team with the National Weather Service in North Little Rock identified the cause of damage from storms that moved through Jefferson County Thursday as the result of straight line winds of between 75 and 85 mph.

The team, which examined an area north of White Hall Friday, identified a 3.3 mile long and 880 yard wide damage path that started just southwest of Samples at 1:46 a.m. and ended 2.7 miles north of the Dexter Gate of the Pine Bluff Arsenal at 1:49 a.m.

The team found the worst damage in the 13700 block of Dollarway Road, with a carport blown off of a house; another house with a small porch torn off its front and damage to its roof; several other homes with shingle damage; one car destroyed and two others damaged by falling trees.

The weather service advised that the information is preliminary and subject to change pending a final review of the event.
