Investigation continues in Thursday homicide


Pine Bluff police are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a man on the east side of the city Thursday.

Roy Haltiwanger, 20, was found on the ground between 314 and 316 East 21st Ave., with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by a doctor in the Emergency Room.

Lt. David Price said Friday that there were no eyewitnesses to the shooting and detectives were trying to determine where Haltiwanger had been before the shooting and whom he might have been with.

Price said no suspects had been identified, no weapon recovered, and the motive for the shooting was still undetermined.

Police were sent to the area, just east of Georgia Street, at about 3:30 p.m. after a caller reported multiple gunshots and a person not breathing.

A reward is available for information leading the the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the death, which was the first homicide of 2013 in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County.
