Fugitive wanted for manslaughter sought by police

Police are looking for a man who fled Tuesday evening when police attempted to arrest him on an outstanding warrant for manslaughter.

Edward Morris was described as a tall black male last seen wearing a blue-and-white plaid shirt and blue-jean shorts. He was last seen on foot running east behind the Jefferson Square Shopping Center.

Morris was reporting to the Department of Community Corrections Probation and Parole office in Jefferson Square at about 5:30 p.m. when officers discovered that he had an active warrant for his arrest for manslaughter in Hamburg in Ashley County.

When officers attempted to take him into custody, he fled the scene.

Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to call 911.
