Former chief’s pink accessories returned to city

A pink iPad2 and iPhone4 purchased by the City of Pine Bluff for former Police Chief Brenda Davis-Jones, who was fired Tuesday by new Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, are no longer in Davis-Jones’ possession.

The items carried a combined price tag of $1,555 and were approved by former Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr., who appointed Davis-Jones. Redus said the devices allowed Davis-Jones to tie into the department’s computer server and 13-unit camera system.

The Dec. 14, 2011, bill amount on the iPhone included a car charger, pink stereo plug cable and $100 in other items.

Hollingsworth said Wednesday that Davis-Jones didn’t have all of the merchandise with her when she was fired Tuesday at city hall, so a police officer accompanied Davis-Jones to her residence and secured the property.
