Area book readers will have an opportunity to meet and converse with fiction and non-fiction writers at the Saturday, Aug. 17, Author Fest at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
Admission will be free. Doors will open at 8 a.m. The writers will be selling and signing their books until 2 p.m.
Diana Golden of Pine Bluff, author of “Death Tried to Consume a Living Rose,” is overseeing the event.
Golden said she became a writer in an effort to better express herself after having been a crime victim. She said she has written seven books but released only the one, and decided to organize Author Fest as a means of bringing area writers together.
Rounding out the field of writers scheduled to participate in the event are April Dawn Agnew, Kelley Bohlman, Donna Brewer, Tiffany Jones, Lou Lambert, Pearl Lilly, Laqueisha Malone, Rochelle Mithelle, Clarissa Pace, Ericka Reams, La’Tonya Richardson and Cathy Young. The authors reside in Pine Bluff, Little Rock, Monticello and Grapevine.
Reams has authored several published works.
None of the event participants are full-time authors. Golden works for a Walmart-associated inventory company but hopes to someday have her publishing service. Bohlman is an administrative assistant to Pine Bluff Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, and Pace is self-employed with a marketing and financial services firm.
Golden said she felt Author Fest would be a good tool in encouraging book writers and also giving them an opportunity to meet readers and possibly determine new reader interests for upcoming works.
