Off-duty police officer shoots female suspect at Pines mall

A woman suspected of shoplifting wound up being shot in an arm by an off-duty Pine Bluff police officer working as a security guard at Dillard’s in The Pines mall about 7 p.m. Friday, according to PBPD Public Information Officer JoAnn Bates.

Bates said the white female suspect managed to drive away after a confrontation with the unidentified officer at the mall but was apprehended without incident a few minutes later at the intersection of East 38th Avenue and Ohio Street. She was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

The unidentified woman was transported to the Dub Brassell Detention Center and booked on charges of aggravated robbery and fleeing.
