An Altheimer woman died and a man was injured in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 63, south of Arkansas Highway 81 near Pine Bluff at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Wanda Whitmore, 45, was pronounced dead at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at 2:58 p.m. The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma, according to Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.
Keldrick Whitmore, 23, of Pine Bluff, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was injured and taken to JRMC, the report said.
State Police Cpl. Marlon D. Briggs, who investigated the accident, said in the report that Wanda Whitmore was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer southward on U.S. 63.
While negotiating a curve, she lost control of the vehicle as it traveled off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned, and Wanda Whitmore was ejected, Briggs said.
Neither was wearing a seat belt, Briggs said.
