107-year-old man killed in officer-involved shooting

A 107-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in an officer-involved shooting following a disturbance on West 16th Avenue.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as Monroe Isadore.

Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher pronounced Isadore dead at 7:23 p.m. apparently from multiple gunshot wounds. His body will be sent to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy, Kelley said.

According to Lt. David Price, the Pine Bluff Police Department’s public information officer, at about 4:25 p.m., police were called to a disturbance at 1411 W. 16th Ave.

When police arrived, someone in the house fired shots in the area where police were, Price said.

When supervising officers arrived, they began negotiations with Isadore and the other occupants in the house were able to leave unharmed, Price said.

While negotiations continued, the Special Weapons and Tactics unit took position around the house. When the man fired additional shots, the SWAT team returned fire and Isadore was killed, Price said.

No officers were injured. Police are continuing their investigation. According to department policy, the officers involved will be placed on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation.
