The Cosmopolitan Choir celebrates 42nd anniversary

The Cosmopolitan Choir will celebrate its 42nd anniversary Sunday at 4 p.m. at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Cypress St.

The special guests include Donna Lee-Thomas, flutist and band teacher at Southeast and Belair Middle schools and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir.

The 2012 honoree of the Cosmopolitan Choir and featured guest will be the renown pianist James “Jimmy” McKissic, a Pine Bluff native who has traveled extensively throughout Europe and who has performed on numerous occasions at Carnegie Hall.

The choir, founded in 1970 by the late David Hodge, is directed by Alfreda Hill and Lola Gordon. Accompanists are Delores Nolen and Danny Withers.
