Anniversaries/Annuals

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will observe the 32nd anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Robert Willis Jr. and Stephanie Willis, beginning with ministers’ night at 7 p.m. Saturday with the guest speaker, Rev. Leon Hicks of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church of Deberry, Texas, who will also speak at 11 a.m. Sunday. At 3 p.m. Sunday, the guest speaker will be Rev. Jeffro Williams Sr. of Holy Garden of Prayer of Chicago, Ill.

Solid Foundation Nondenominational Church, 3811 W. Fourth Ave., will hold its third annual family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speakers will be Rev. Antonyo Reed of New Community Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Timothy Davis of Holy Hill Church of God in Christ of Banks, and Rev. Anthony L. Collins of Solid Foundation.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will hold its annual black and gold day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will Jeffro Williams Jr., co-pastor of Holy Garden of Prayer of Chicago, Ill.

Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will hold its first annual missions service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Fred Lee, missions president of Arkansas First Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ, and pastor of Abundant Life Ministries Church of God in Christ of West Memphis.

First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church of Gould will hold its 100th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Area deacons are invited to serve and choirs are asked to join with songs of praise.

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will hold its annual ushers’ board program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Aaron E. Barnes Sr., pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Tillar will hold its 113th church anniversary program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The special guests will be Rev. Rickie Latimore and the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott.

Second Missionary Baptist Church of Wabbaseka will observe the 11th anniversary honoring its pastor and wife, Rev. Graylin and Nannette Wilson, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Rosevelt Simmons Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Gethsemane.

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will hold its appreciation program honoring its pastor and wife, Eddie L. Harris Jr. and Caroline Harris, Sunday. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Rev. Carla Thomas, youth pastor of Greater Ward Chapel, and at 3 p.m. the guest speaker will be Rev. Reginol Alexander, pastor of Mt. Pleasant AME Church of Pine Bluff.

Kearney Baptist Church of Redfield will hold its 30th anniversary at 10 a.m. Sunday featuring singing, devotionals and memories of the church. There will be a fellowship dinner after the service.

The 16th anniversary banquet honoring Rev. Darrell J. Martin, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall of New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 Orange St. Tickets are $15 each or $25 a couple. First Baptist Church of Altheimer will hold its 111th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The special guest will be Rev. Charles Helloms, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Ladd.

Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Rison will hold its annual harvest drive program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Tony Lester, bishop and pastor of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ Church of North Little Rock.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold their annual choir day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Kevin Lee of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church of Coffeeville, Miss.

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church of Jefferson will hold its annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Sherrod Ricks of First Baptist Carthage Church of Carthage. Other guests will include Elevated Worship and Zetoria Curry, both of Little Rock.

Belmont Missionary Baptist Church of Moscow will hold its annual choir day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Woodrow Jackson Jr., pastor of Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will hold its annual youth choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The special guests will be the New Town Youth Choir.

Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will hold its 15th annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Learthur Shelton. Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will hold its choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. RaeShawn Howard of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 65 South, will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Marguerite Taggart-Patton of Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Linda Watson, superintendent of Pine Bluff School District.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will hold its annual men’s day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jerry Hayes, pastor of Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Grady will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Sandra Gaynor.

Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Tamo will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Cynthia Edwards, an evangelist from Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Wanda Jean Jones of Kingdom Builders Church of God in Christ of Pine Bluff.

St Andrew AME Church, 701 Franklin St., will hold its fourth men’s and women’s day Sunday at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Daryell Howell, pastor of St. Peter AME Church of McGehee.

Concerts/Musicals

Southside Singing Center, 5400 W. 15th Ave., will sponsor a musical at 7 p.m. Sunday. The featured guests will include Sensational Soul Revivals, The White Family, The Mighty Gospelettes, Gloriettes, Christland/Faith of Harmony, and more.

Choir rehearsals for the Arkansas Gospel Music Month Heritage Finale choir rehearsal will be held Sept. 16 and Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road. Also, at noon Sept. 21, at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St. The finale will be held Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s fine arts auditorium.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold a musician appreciation program honoring Anne Anderson, Reginald Gaddie, Eugene Parker and Curtis Corbin at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guests include Rose Hill Youth Choir, Wheeler Chapel Choir and New Community Praise Team.

Pure Purpose will observe its third anniversary at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and also at 6 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. The featured guests include Serinity of Nashville, Bishop Kenneth Robinson & Chosen, and Pastor T.W. Scott & The Singing Revs.

Revivals

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Frank Harris, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Reydell Baptist Church of Reydell will hold its revival at 6 p.m. with the following speakers on these dates: Sunday, Pete Kiefhaber of Fellowship Bible Church of Star City; Monday and Tuesday, Joe Meador of Humphrey Baptist Church; Wednesday, Donald Lee Ruffin of Faith Baptist Church of DeWitt.

Special Events

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will hold its pastor’s appreciation day for Rev. Andrew Williams at 3 p.m. Sunday. The special guests will be Rev. Earnest L. Allen, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Roe, along with his church.

St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190, will hold an appreciation service honoring Rev. Norma J. Gillom at 3 p.m. Sunday. The special guest will be Rev. Carle P. Johnson of Cherry Street AME Zion Church.

New Covenant Church Global will hold a conference at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 1711 W. 13th Ave. The guest speaker will be Xavier Wymes of Little Rock.

Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 5302 W. 13th Ave., will host the first sermon of Rev. Robert Lee Wallace Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday.

City Wide Mission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Allen Temple AME Church, 1125 Virginia St.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Faith will hold its women’s singing program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

First Presbyterian Church, 717 W. 32nd Ave., will hold a worship service and a luncheon to welcome Rev. Susan Carter Wiggins as interim pastor at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. She has been a chaplain resident at Baptist Health at Little Rock and provided pulpit supply for more than 25 congregations across the state.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will feature Rev. Leon Barnett, associate minister of Bountiful Love Ministries Church of God in Christ Church of Flint, Mich., as the guest speaker Sunday at 11 a.m.

Kingdom Covenant Fellowship and Network of Churches will hold a Leadership Conference 2013 at Church Without Walls Kingdom Center of Watson at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept 20, and at 9 a.m. Sept. 21. Also, on Sept. 22, at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., ministers J.W. Webster and Cassandra Webster will deliver the morning message Sept. 22.

Reydell Baptist Church of Reydell will hold its homecoming Sunday at 11 a.m. worship service, at 12:30 p.m. potluck dinner, and at 1:30 p.m. music and memories.

Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will hold Thursday night church services at 7 p.m.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 Highway 79 South, will hold its youth day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Joshua Pickett of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will present a youth musical at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Featured guests will be Samarra Samone, Unique Harmony, James Rice, Shaw Boys, Telia Hadley, and more. Also, youth Sunday will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dewon Simmons.
