Anniversaries/Annuals

Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will observe its annual mission service at 7 p.m. Friday. The guest speaker will be Juanita Harris of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and music will be provided by the Citywide Mission Choir.

Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church of Wilmar will observe the third anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Shay and Sherrie Gillespie, Sunday. At 11 a.m. the sermon will be delivered by Rev. Martiz Scott, pastor of the New Relationship Christian Center Church of Monticello and at 2:45 p.m. the guest speaker will be Rev. Steve R. Lake Sr., pastor of Eureka Baptist Church of Hot Springs.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will celebrate senior saints day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Carl E. Gardner, associate minister of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Moments of Truth Evangelistic Ministries, 116 Plum St., will observe the third anniversary honoring the pastor and founder Rev. Clarence Peacock at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Leon Warren, pastor of Liberty Faith Ministries.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will observe the seventh anniversary honoring its pastor and wife, Rev. Anthony and Lisa Walker, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Learthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill will observe its seventh anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Willie A. and Vonda Rogers, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. LeRoy Spears, pastor of Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Pastoria will observe the 20th anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Joseph Valliant Jr. and Gwendolyn Valliant, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Patrick H. Greene Sr. of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church of Cleveland, AR.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Jefferson will observe its 135th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jimmy Fisher of Greater Mt. Calvary Church.

St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will hold their annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 E. Seventh Ave., will observe the 11th choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Stoney Shaw of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will hold their annual celebration honoring Rev. Robert Willis Jr., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. A.C. Reynolds of First Baptist Church of Ladd. Words of encouragement will be given by Rev. Jerry Hayes of Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Grapevine Church of God in Christ, 6965 Highway 35 South, will observe the 18th anniversary honoring the pastor and wife, Rev. Lawrence and Rita Hobbs, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. David O. Jones, pastor of Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Moscow will hold a pre-anniversary program honoring the pastor, Rev. Stanley Blair, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Brian Castle along with the Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church Choir.

Oak Grove Baptist Church at Gethsemane will hold its annual choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Chris Simmons, associate minister of Bethel New Bethel Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St., will host a Praise Dance Expose’ to celebrate their church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday and will be featuring praise dancers from Arkansas.

Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will hold their annual family and friends day at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Union Hopewell Baptist Church, 1121 Persimmon St., will hold an appreciation celebration honoring Pastor Larry Ward at 3 p.m. Sunday. Special guests will be Spiritual Wings of Joy, Alderman Steven Mays, Pastor Tommy Breamsey, Pastor George Toney and Choir, Pastor Louis Williams , and more.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will hold their annual women’s day Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. The featured speaker will be the first lady, Timberly Mixon, of Victory Faith. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Carla Perry-Johnson, pastor of Cherry Street AME Zion Church.

Person Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will hold their annual men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jimmy R. Bynum, pastor of Auburn Missionary Baptist Church of Gould.

Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Women’s Auxiliary will hold its annual district women’s day at Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Myra Jarmon of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church of McGehee. The choir rehearsal for the District Women’s Choir will be held at Kings Highway at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

New Hope AME Church of Sherrill will hold their annual men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. James H. Thomas, presding elder of the Pine Bluff-West Helena District.

Highland Missionary Baptist Church, 1320 Peach St., will hold its annual women’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest evangelist will be Elsie Watson.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will hold its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Ramon Hunter, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill, will be the guest speaker and Rev. Alfred Carroll, associate minister of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will make a presentation.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ Church, 800 S. Catalpa St., will hold their 43rd annual women’s day weekend. There will be a fellowship prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday. Sunday at 8 a.m. a special prayer service will be held and at 10:30 a.m. the main service feature the guest missionary Dorothy Jackson of Prayer Garden Church of God In Christ. At 7 p.m., the guest speaker will be Valerie Raspberry.

Concerts

The Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir rehearsals for the Songs of Praise 45 Concert will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 13, 20, and 27 at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St. The concert will be held Sept. 29.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host the Sensational Soul Revivals celebrating their 66th anniversary. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, guests include Rev. Charles Blakely, lead singer of the Messengers. Sunday at 6:30 p.m., guests include The Herron Singers, Holy Spiritual Travelers of Memphis, Hearts of Joy Singers of Little Rock, Voices of Harmony of Pine Bluff, Full Faith Christian Center of Pine Bluff, Angels of Praze of Pine Bluff, and more.

Revivals

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will hold revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. W.W. Walker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Highland Park, of Little Rock.

Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 W. Reeker St., will hold its revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speakers will be Rev. Parish E. Lowery of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth on Thursday, and Rev. W.T. Glynn of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Fort Worth, Friday.

Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Rison will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Ronald S. Laurent, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Holly Grove.

International House of Prayer, 1002 E. Eighth Ave., will hold revival at 7 p.m. starting Monday. The guest speakers and dates also include Joseph Brown of Pine Bluff, Tuesday; Dexter McDonald of Pine Bluff, Wednesday; and Iverson Jackson of Little Rock, Thursday and Friday.

Special Events

Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. Third Ave., will hold Rally Day Sunday with services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Also, breakfast will be served free between the services at 9:15 a.m. Rally Day is when the church kicks off its new season of activities and classes and also allows those interested in Trinity or the Episcopal church to gather, ask questions and share in the fellowship.

Rev. Lloyd Inmon of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, will be the guest speaker at Mt. Sinai Church, 2221 S. Olive St., at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The church community will hold a Praise in the Park in Central Park of Pine Bluff at the Bloom Tennis Court from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Come celebrate a day of worship, song, dance and spiritual fun for the family.

Bethel AME Church of Ladd will hold their Women’s Missionary Society celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Raeshawn Howard of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Daniel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Moscow will hold its usher program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Scott, pastor of Damacus Missionary Baptist Church of Grady.

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Tillar will be hosting the Southeast District Usher’s Alliance program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Lamar Brooks along with the Marzell Missionary Baptist Church of Tamo.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will hold an ordination service honoring Carolyn Antwine Hutson at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speakers will be Rev. Esau Watson, bishop of Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and Rev. Larry D. Rogers, pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Gould.

Youth

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will hold its annual youth day Sunday starting at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rodney Reavling of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ of Pine Bluff. At 3 p.m. a gospel extravaganza will be held.
