Anniversaries/Annuals

Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will honor its pastor and wife, Rev. Renice L. Davis and Mary E. Davis, for nine years of service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Anthony Craig, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. A special celebration dinner will be served immediately afterwards.

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas will celebrate the 36th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Larry Alexander and Carrie Alexander at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Stanley Blair, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow.

Person Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Meroney will be holding a second anniversary celebration for its pastor, Rev. Henry J. Maxwell Jr., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Alvin Newburn, pastor of Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will hold its annual Choir Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ken Daniels of Greater Second Baptist Church in Dumas.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will hold its third annual Usher’s Workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday. The facilitator will be Rev. Michael Stevens, director of the School of Ushering for the Arkansas Usher Federation. Stevens will be assisted by other nationally certified instructors.

Rose Hill church will also hold its annual Usher’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Kevin Crumpton of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate its annual Lay Day Sunday at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Joyce Bracy Vaughan, Chaplain of the Connectional Lay Organization of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Other guests will include Mt. Pleasant Male Chorus and the Rejoice Children’s Choir.

Bethel AME Church in Ladd will be celebrating its Church Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will hold its seventh Choir Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Stoney Shaw, pastor of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Special guests will be New Faith church and choir.

Men’s/Women’s Day

The Central District Missionary Baptist Association will host its annual Women’s Day 2013 at Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart at 10 a.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Smith, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church in Altheimer will hold its annual Men’s Day Celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Charles Hellums, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ladd.

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will hold their annual Men’s Day Program Sunday. Rev. Leroy Spears Jr., the pastor, will speak at 11 a.m. and the guest speaker at 3 p.m. will be Rev. Learthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Baptist Church.

Special Events

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will hold a celebration honoring Dee Clay at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Musical guests include Spiritual Wings of Joy, T.W. Scott and Revs, Sensational Hearts, Candi Robinson and Company and the Barnes Sisters.

New St. James Church, 33rd Avenue and Fir Street, will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Lamar Brooks, pastor of Marzell Missionary Baptist Church in Tamo.

Full Faith Christian Center, 1320 E. 17th Ave., will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Vacation Bible School

Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gethsemane will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Prayer Garden, 800 S. Apple St., will hold their Vacation Bible School Wednesday through Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will sponsor Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Youth

Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will host Youth Explosion Weekend beginning with a concert Saturday at 6 p.m. featuring local groups. Sunday School Day will be observed at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with guest teachers followed by worship service at 10:30 a.m. with K.D. Mixon II as the featured speaker.
