Anniversaries/Annuals

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. 2nd Ave., will celebrate its seventh anniversary with its pastor and wife, Rev. Leon and Laetta Williams, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Robert Thomas will be the special guest.

Jefferson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the 33rd pastoral anniversary of Rev. Jimmy Polk and his wife at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tarry at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Al Brown, pastor of Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist churches at Yorktown and Monticello, will be the guest speaker.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 18th anniversary of the pastor, Rev. Robert Anderson, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. George Barnes, pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold the annual celebration of their pastor and wife, Rev. Roy and Barbara Thomas, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Clark Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.

Richardson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tamo will celebrate the third anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. Michael Love, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Nathaniel Thornton, pastor of Bethlehem #2 Church at Tarry.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will hold their annual Mission Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Jackie Flowers from Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff will be the guest speaker.

Concerts/Musicals

The Woodlawn High School E.A.S.T. Lab and the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church youth group will hold a Reed-Richardson Benefit Gospel Concert at the Woodlawn High School Gymnasium at Rison at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The concert will feature the Chuck Wagon Gang of Nashville, Tenn., and the Downing Family of Catoosa, Okla. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

First Southern Baptist Church in Sheridan will hold a gospel singing and fellowship with Tru-Witness at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir will begin rehearsals for its “Songs of Praise 44 Concert” at Cherry Street A.M.E. Zion Church, 800 S. Cherry St., at 7 p.m. Friday. Additional rehearsals are scheduled for June 21 and 28.

There will be a “Steelin’ the Gospel” event at The Hacketts Gospel Singin’ Shed in Dermott from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday. The Grand Ole Gospel Show featuring The Hacketts will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.

New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 Fir St., will host the 39th annual musical celebration honoring The Faith of Harmony at 6 p.m. Sunday. Among the guests are The Hayes Family, Sensational Hearts, the Barnes Sisters, Totally Committed and The New Herron.

Men’s/Women’s Day

St. John AME Church, 1117 W. Pullen St., will begin its 94th annual Women’s Day celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday with a brunch theatre event featuring a Christian play. Tickets are $5 and are available from the church. Rev. Beatrice Phillips Smith, wife of Rev. Alvin Smith, pastor of St. John AME, will be the guest minister at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. Rev. Rosalynn Kyle Brookins, pastor of Walker Temple AME Church in Los Angeles, will be the guest speaker at the 4 p.m. service Sunday.

Green Mount Church in Monticello will hold their annual Men’s and Women’s Day program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Cindy Robinson, pastor of Bethel AME Church at Fountain Hill and Longview Circuit, will be the speaker.

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold their annual Men’s and Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Darren Edgerson, pastor of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the messenger.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe its annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Arthur Hughes, pastor of First Baptist Church of Humphrey, will be the guest speaker.

Saint Bethel Baptist Church, 4508 S. Main St., will celebrate their annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Learthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, will bring the message. Men In Black and Lampkin Chapel Male Choir will sing.

Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will hold their annual Men’s and Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Jimmy Ray Bynum, pastor of Auburn Missionary Baptist Church in Gould, will bring the message.

Revival

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will hold revival services Monday through Friday at 7 nightly. Rev. Isom Cross from Union Baptist Church in Dumas will be the guest speaker.

Special Events

There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. 2nd Ave., will hold a “100 Women in Red” event at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Brenda Burton, pastor of Second Chance Ministries in McGehee, will be the guest speaker.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 Ohio St., will hold its Family and Friends/Homecoming Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Rashawn Howard of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest minister.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry will begin its celebration kickoff for the bishop and pastor, Shirley Sanders, at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Room of Ramada Plaza Inn, #2 Convention Center Drive. The guest speaker will be Rev. William A. Shaw, pastor of Pleasant View Ministries.

Regular St. Marion District Women’s Department will meet at noon Saturday at Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St.

Pleasant View Ministries, 1117 N. Palm St., will host a “Women Are Kingmakers!” women’s meeting at 7 p.m. Friday featuring Wellington Boone of Wellington Boone Ministries of Norcross, Ga., a nationally recognized platform speaker for Promise Keepers and the author of several best selling Christian books.

“Women Are Kingmakers!” also includes a Leadership Luncheon for pastors, pastors’ wives and other people actively involved in leadership ministry at 11 a.m. June 15 at E.W. Watson Fellowship Hall (the former sanctuary at New Community Church), 321 N. The H.O.P.E. Ministries (Helping Our People Endure) will host a Celebration of Love service at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas at 7 p.m. Saturday, benefitting Samantha Steverson, who is battling illness. Rev. Vernell Racy, pastor, and the Antioch Church family of Tahlequah, Okla., will be the special guests. The Racy Brothers, the McLettic Stars, the Heavenly Hearts, and Cindy Patton are among those appearing. A late supper will also be served.

Joyce Rodgers, founder and CEO of Primary Purpose Ministries of Carrollton, Texas, will be the guest speaker at the 2013 AIM Convention, sponsored by First Jurisdiction of Arkansas Church of God in Christ, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. AIM will also hold a press conference Tuesday at 9:40 a.m. at the center. A major will be made to two non-profit service agencies and officials will announce a special project with Mayor Debe Hollingsworth as part of the convention’s service and outreach ministries. The convention will be held Monday through Friday at the center.

A pastor’s aid program will be held for Rev. Ramon L. Hunter and Wanda Hunter at 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherill. Guests include the Pastoria Singing Union, White Family and KCAT Gospel Caravan.

Vacation Bible School

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will hold their Vacation Bible School Sunday through Thursday at 6 p.m.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold their annual Vacation Bible School Wednesday through Friday at 6 p.m.

Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Thursday at 6 p.m.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will hold their annual Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m.

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will hold their Vacation Bible School Sunday through Friday at 6 p.m.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 7 p.m.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will hold Vacation Bible School Tuesday through Thursday at 6:30 p.m. A review program will be presented Friday featuring children.

Youth

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will hold their annual Youth Day program Sunday. The youth will be in charge of Sunday school and the 11 a.m. worship service, and the youth choir will present a concert at 3 p.m.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will celebrate their annual Youth Day Sunday. The 11 a.m. guest minister will be Rev. Omar Davis from St. Peter’s Rock Church in Dumas and the 3 p.m. speaker will be Rev. Raeshawn Howard of Lampkin Chapel Baptist Church.

Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will hold their Youth Annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tarsha Woods, an evangelist of Mount Bayou Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will hold its monthly Youth Forum at 10 a.m. June 15. This month’s forum will be facilitated by an attorney, David Morehead of Pine Bluff.
