Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will hold its annual New Beginning Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. James Spinks, pastor of Brooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Monticello, will be the guest speaker.

Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Noble Lake will hold their annual Mother’s Day Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday. The narrator will be Rev. Melvin Ely, associate minister of Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.


First Southern Baptist Church in Sheridan will hold an “Evening of Southern Gospel Music” featuring the Holcomb Family at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will continue their Musician’s Appreciation Program at 3 p.m. Sunday honoring Rev. Lamar Dendy and Jerron Liddell. Rev. Kevin Crumpton of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff will be the guest speaker.

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will hold a Musical Praise Service at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Family Times Baptist Church, 501 S. Ohio St., will hold a concert featuring Jewell & Converted at 7 p.m. Saturday. Guests will include the Singing Revs, Shaw Boys, Faithful and D’Vyne Unity.


New Covenant Church Global, 1711 W. 13th Ave., has cancelled their revival services planned for Sunday through May 18.

Abundant Life Church, 3109 S. Main St., will hold their “Fresh Oil Crusade” Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rogders G. DeCuir, a prophet from Holy Deliverance Pentecostal Church of Pasadena, Calif.

International House of Praise, 1002 E. Eighth Ave., will hold revival services at 7 nightly. Monday through Wednesday, Matthew Johnson of Little Rock will be the evangelist and Thursday will feature Roderick Brown as the guest speaker. The event ends Friday.

Special Events

New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 N. Liddell St., will hold its Mother’s Day Program at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rev. George Gatewood will be the guest speaker.

Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wabbaseka will hold their Mother’s Day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Margaret Boyd-Owens of First Missionary Baptist Church at Humphrey.

Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. Third Ave., will hold a parish luncheon honoring Mother’s Day and families following the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. Those wishing to attend are asked to call the church office so that planners can estimate the number of attendees.

Deeper Revelation International Ministry, 507 W. Sixth Ave., will hold a Mother’s Day program at 11 a.m. Saturday. Barbara Williams of Memphis will be the guest speaker.

Pleasant View Ministries will hold a graduation celebration at the Big Rec Center in Townsend Park at 6 p.m. Saturday for the following students — Tevon Jones (Shaw) and Keieron Savage of Watson Chapel High School; Blandon Bland, DeAndre Gridley and Taraen Taylor of Pine Bluff High School; Rashad Maybell of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff; Averion Anderson of Dollarway High School and Percy Arnold of White Hall High School.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will hold a Women’s Day of Prayer at 1 p.m. Monday. Retired alderman Irene Holcomb will be the guest speaker. Women are asked to wear a hat or prayer cap and to bring three canned goods for donation to the Salvation Army.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, located at the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Suites, 2 Convention Center Drive, will host a “Heart for the Harvest” fellowship from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18. Barbara Thomas, an apostle, chief executive officer and founder of Next Dimension Global Outreach of Little Rock, will be the guest speaker.

Rev. Donald Agee, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., received his doctorate in theology from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock on Friday. Agee’s dissertation was entitled “The Art of Expository Sermonizing.” Agee also received his bachelor’s degree in 2004 and master’s degree in 2005 from the seminary.
