Anniversaries/Annuals

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate the 19th anniversary of its pastor and wife the Rev. Walter C. May Sr. and Hilda May on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

The Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 Main St., will celebrate the 42nd pastoral anniversary of the superintendent and wife, Joe Stocker and Ingrid Stocker. The guest speaker at 7:30 p.m. Saturday will be Lawrence O’Neal, superintendent of Holy Benton Temple Church of God in Christ in Stuttgart.

The guest speaker at 3 p.m. Sunday will be the bishop and prelate of Arkansas First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Jewel R. Withers, Jr., who is also pastor of Williams Temple Church of God in Christ and Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Little Rock.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Grady will celebrate the sixth appreciation service honoring its pastor and wife, the Rev. Freddie L. Heard Sr. and Alice Heard on Sunday at 10 a.m. for the pre-anniversary program and 11:30 a.m. for the anniversary program. The event will be held at The Big Rec in Townsend Park at Pine Bluff. The Rev. Larry Rogers, pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Gould will be the guest speaker.

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave. will celebrate the 34th anniversary of its pastor and wife the Rev. Leroy Spears Jr. and Debra Spears on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. William Robinson, pastor of First Baptist Church in North Little Rock will be the guest speaker.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 136th church anniversary on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Robert Richardson, associate minister of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Pastoria, will be the guest speaker.

Faith in Action Ministries Church, 316 S. Poplar St., will celebrate the church’s sixth anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Alvin C. Lowe, pastor of Prairie Lake Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold its annual choir day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Harold Box, pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Little Rock, will be the guest speaker.

Saint Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will celebrate the second anniversary of its pastor and wife, the Rev. Darren and Ebone’ Edgerson, on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Johnny L. Morton, pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, will be the guest speaker.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will celebrate its annual black and gold day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its annual ushers program on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev Robert Willis, pastor of Amos Chapel Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4901 McDonley Road, will hold its annual usher program Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Dumas, will celebrate the 12th year appreciation of its pastor and wife, the Rev. James and Della Williams, on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Archie Dolls, pastor of Westside Missionary Baptist Church in Star City, will be the guest speaker.

Mount Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will hold its annual usher program on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Melissa Hodges, pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Scott, will be the guest speaker.

Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave. will hold its annual ushers appreciation banquet Friday at 7 p.m. Rev. Derick Easter, pastor of Bailey Chapel Baptist Church in North Little Rock, will be the guest speaker. All ushers are invited to attend.

Family Time Baptist Church, 501 Ohio St., will host the sixth anniversary honoring Faithful of Pine Bluff on Saturday at 6 p.m. Guests include Gifted of Baton Rouge, La., the Williams Singer, DeShae & Frenz, Voices of Heaven and many more.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will celebrate its 107th church anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Henry Richardson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Monticello, will be the guest speaker.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 Martin St., will celebrate the first anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev.Charlie L. Rogers Jr. and Gwendolyn Rogers, on Sunday. Rev. T.R. Brown, pastor of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry Rogers, pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Gould, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m. Special guests include the Darrough Singers, Marla & The Boys and Soul Serenaders.

Concerts/Musicals

There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will host the seventh annual choir day on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

West Pine Bluff Church of God, 5810 Malcomb St., will host a concert on Saturday at 6 p.m. True Witness will hold the concert of southern gospel music.

Revivals

Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will hold revival services Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. Kenneth L. Stewart, pastor of The House of Prayer Baptist Church in Flint, Mich., will be the guest evangelist. Other speakers include Rev. Donald Agee, Monday; Rev. Glen Barnes, Sr., Tuesday; and Rev. Lee Arthur Shelton, Wednesday.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will hold annual fall revival services Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. Charles Helloms Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Bethel New Bethel, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold its fall youth revival on Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m. Rev. Joshua Picket, pastor of Pleasant Grove Church, and Rev. Frank Harris, Jr., pastor of New Jerusalem Church, will be the guest speakers.

Special Events

The Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star/PHA will observe the Peake Memorial and Star day on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 901 S. Wisconsin St. Rev. Aaron Johnson, pastor of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Forrest Park Baptist Church, 3706 Cherry, will have an annual fall fest block party on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be games for children, crafts, prizes and food. There is no cost.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Moscow, will have a love program Saturday at 6 p.m. honoring Rev. David Marks, pastor of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Ervin Batman, pastor of Kindling Star Missionary Baptist Church, Rose Marshall and Josephine Edgerson of New Community Baptist Church. The group Virtuous are the sponsors of this event.

Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 E. Seventh Ave., will host the family reunion of the Jones family of Altheimer on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Bobby Jones, pastor of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga., will be the guest speaker.

International House of Prayer, 4106 W. 12th Ave. will host the 17th annual appreciation program to honor its pastor, Rev. Jerline Maxwell, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Irvin Cunnings, pastor of All Nations Tabernacle Church, will be the guest speaker.

Youth

Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its annual youth revival on Monday-Wednesday at 7 p.m. The guest speakers are: Rev. Melvin Ely on Monday, Rev. Charles Bryant on Tuesday and Rev. Travis Harden on Wednesday.

Highland Baptist Church, 1320 S. Peach St., will hold youth day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. DeSean Jarrett, pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Lonoke, will be the guest speaker.

Bethel New Bethel, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold Saturday night live on Saturday at 6 p.m. Rev. Nate Steward, youth pastor, will be the special guest. All youth of the city are invited.

Womens/Men’s Day

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will hold a first lady’s brunch on Saturday at 11a.m. P. Williams of Family Time Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pastoria will hold a women’s day program on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Carla Perry-Johnson, pastor of New Zion Metropolitan AME Church of Monticello.

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Vaugine St., will hold its annual men and women’s day Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Roosevelt Barnes of the Ash Street Missionary Baptist Church in Dermott will be the guest speaker.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold its annual women’s day program on Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. Martha Ollison of New Community Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. Choir rehearsal will be held Monday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold its annual men’s day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Jimmy Polk, pastor of Jefferson Chapel Church in Tarry and pastor of Rankin Chapel Church in Gould, will be the speaker.

Old Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will hold its annual women’s day on Sunday. At the 10:30 a.m. worship service, Rev. Carla Perry-Johnson, pastor of the Metropolitan AME Church in Monticello, will be the guest speaker. A prayer brunch will be at 10 a.m. Saturday and the speaker will be Felecia Gollatt of Redeeming Spiritual Church at Forrest City.
