Anniversaries/Annuals

Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will hold a fellowship service on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Jonathan Daniel, pastor of Central Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. The Watkin Chapel Angel Choir will provide the music.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will observe its annual mission day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev Stephen King of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church will be the speaker. The choirs of Eighth Avenue and St. Paul will provide the music.

Concerts/Musical

Westside Missionary Baptist Church of Star City will hold a “Showers of Praises in Song” program on Sunday at 7 p.m. Guests will include the Westside Sunbeam Choir, Westside Adult Choir, Westside Harmonettes and The Lincoln County Male Choir.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold a back to school gospel celebration on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Johnson Family, Heavenly Hearts and many others will join the celebration.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will host the Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir’s Songs of Praise 41 Concert Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. George Waters Sr. as the worship leader.

Revivals

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold revival services Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. Theodore Smith, pastor of Damascus Baptist Church in Magnolia, will be the guest speaker.

First Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold revival services Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church and moderator of the Central District, will be the guest preacher.

Special Events

Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will be honoring its pastor and wife, Rev. Ramon L. Hunter and Wanda Hunter, with an appreciation banquet Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Trinity Annex Building, 2900 W. Sixth Ave. The cost is $20 for singles and $30 for couples. New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 N. Lindell St., will host a pre-anniversary event honoring its first lady Ardelia Jones on Sunday at 3 p.m. Special speakers will present the Fruit of the Spirit. There will be other women speakers and music from various choirs.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant, will host the anniversary tour of Endure of Dumas on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Rev. James Barnes, pastor of New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, will be the speaker. Other guests will include Pure in Heart, Nu-Mighty Supremes, VOH and Witnezz.

Jefferson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tarry will host the fifth Sunday fellowship services on Sunday at 10 a.m. The churches include Pine Hill, Travelers Rest, Kindling Star and Jefferson Chapel.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold its first Wednesday service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rev. Gregory Lee will be the speaker.

God’s Way Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1601 Commerce Road, will hold the mission program on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Shelia Gardner will be the guest speaker.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold its fifth Sunday fellowship service on Sunday at 11 a.m. Others in the fellowship include New Morning Star, St. Andrew and Macedonia churches. Rev. Richard Hart, pastor of St. Andrew, will be the speaker.

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will hold a Christian leadership school Saturday at 8 a.m. Course 1007: Introduction to the Old Testament will be taught by Rev. Brian L. Castle, pastor of Indiana Street. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and there’s no registration fee. Lunch and course materials will be provided.

Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 8011 S. Olive St., will host a joint church fellowship service with Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Wiley Shelton, pastor of Motley Chapel, will be the speaker.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold its fifth Sunday service on Sunday at 11 a.m. Joe McKnight, a deacon, will be the speaker. The church will also hold its fill-a-gap service at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Youth

There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will hold an annual children/youth day celebration. Family fun day will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon with food and activities. Sunday, service will be at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Elder James Yarbrough, pastor of Power House Church of God in Christ at Warren, will be the guest speaker.

Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will hold youth day Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Dedric Jones will be the speaker.

Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will hold the annual youth day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Inman, a minister of Unity Temple, will be the speaker. At 3 p.m., Rev. Vincent Williams Jr., pastor of Divine Destiny Church of God in Christ, will be the speaker.

Women’s/Men’s Day

Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will hold a women’s conference on Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. Guest speakers will be Debra Cooper, a pastor from Warren, and Jeanette Cartwright, a pastor of Pine Bluff.

Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will hold a women’s conference Saturday. A continental breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. and conference 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pamela Williams of Family Time Baptist Church will be the opening speaker. Jenise “Sandy” Blake, pastor of Sonlite Ministry will be the closing speaker.

Old St. James will also host a concert Saturday at 7 p.m. featuring recording artist and evangelist Evelyn Turrentine-Agee of Detroit as well as the Barnes Sisters, Williams Singers and Spiritualettes of Pine Bluff. There is no registration fee.

New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 Fir St., will hold its annual women’s day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Bobbie Brooks of Marzell Missionary Baptist Church at Tamo will be the speaker.
