Anniversaries/Annuals

Faith In Action Ministries Church, 316 S. Poplar St., will celebrate the sixth anniversary of its bishop and wife, Aundra and Theodora Johnson, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. Guest speakers will be Calvin L. Smith, prophet/overseer of New Life Creation Center Inc., and C.D. Allen, prophetess of C.D. Allen Ministries. Musical guests will be The Mighty True Lights. The celebration Sunday at 3 p.m. will feature the Rev. William Shaw, pastor of Pleasant View Ministries, as the guest speaker.

The 23rd Anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Freddie and Kathy Webb of New Derrissaux Missionary Baptist Church, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m., at Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 26th Avenue and Florida Street. The guest speaker will be the Rev. LeArthur Shelton of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Guests will also include the Webb Sisters and Men in Black.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate its 91st church anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dwight Townsend, pastor of Longley Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its 12th annual ushers’ fellowship brunch on Saturday at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Willie Rogers, pastor of the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. Also, Sylverene Vinson of First Baptist will sing songs from her Gospel CD.

Mount Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will be holding its annual appreciation program, celebrating the 3rd anniversary of its pastor and wife, the Rev. R.W. Alexander Sr., and wife Linda Alexander on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jesse Amos of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Greenville, Miss.

Stewart Memorial CME Church, 911 S. Maple St., will celebrate its 65th church anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. William Gant, pastor of Saint Mary Christian Methodist Episcopal at Searcy.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will be having a pre-anniversary in honor of its pastor and wife, the Rev. Robert Willis Jr. and Stephanie Willis, on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Donald Agee of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2012 Reeker St., will be honoring its pastor and wife, the Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr. and LaDawn Barnes, during the 10th anniversary Sunday, at 3 p.m. The Rev. David Smith, pastor of Old St. James Baptist Church, and the choir will be the special guests.

Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Cypress St., will be holding its annual usher ministry program on Sunday at 3 p.m. The special guest speaker will be the Rev. Charles Boyd, pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church.

New Town Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will be celebrating their annual mission day on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Stephen King, pastor of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will be having their annual usher ministry program on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Aaron Barnes Jr., pastor of New Homes Missionary Baptist Church.

First Missionary Baptist Church, Ladd Community, will be holding its mass choir anniversary Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Andrew Bess of Altheimer will be the guest speaker.

Concerts and Musicals

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will be celebrating their 37th mass choir anniversary on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The Rev. Darrell Martin, pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Altheimer will be the guest speaker.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 700 S. Catalpa St., will host a back-to-school youth musical Sunday at 6 p.m. Young musicians, singers, instrumentalists, praise dancers, Gospel rappers, poets and others who would like to share their talents are invited to participate.

The Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church Family at Altheimer, will be having their 47th Mass Choir Appreciation Program Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Herschel Lovelace of First Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.

International House of Prayer, 4106 W. 12th Ave., will be having a musical program on Sunday at 7 p.m. Guests will include the Rev. Sammie Smith and Nu-Begin-N, Nu-Image-3 and the Smith Family from Pine Bluff.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill, will be holding their monthly worship service of the Pastoria Singing Union on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Temple Veil will lead the morning worship service at Central Baptist Church, 6107 Dollarway Road, Sunday.

Special Events

Old Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will be having an early service at 8 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., and general worship at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. David Smith, the pastor, will bring the message.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, New Community Baptist Church, 321 N. Birch St., and the church’s Lion of Judah Ministry will host guest speaker Coach Monte Coleman and members of the Golden Lion Football Team from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The Rev. Joshua Pickett, associate minister of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be the guest speaker Sunday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will be celebrating the 92nd birthday of Rev. W.M. Thomas and also will be honoring all senior citizens Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Ronnie Mosby, pastor at Jehovah Community Temple in De Valls Buff will by the guest speaker. All Senior Citizens are invited. Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will be holding its pastor’s aid program Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Terrance Williams, pastor of Living Word Baptist Church.

Youth

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will be having a community block party on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring free food and games.

Women/Men’s Day

Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 2617 W. Eighth Ave., will be holding their annual women’s day celebration Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jolinda Smith of Mason Temple Church at Altheimer.

St. John AME Church, 1117 W. Pullen St., will be holding its 88th annual men’s day celebration Sunday. The guest Sunday School superintendent will be Ray Johnson and lesson reviewer, Rev. Clifton O’Neal.

At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be attorney and Rev. O. Jerome Green, president of Shorter College in North Little Rock, who is also a former member of St. John. The St. John Male Choir will provide the music.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will be celebrating their annual women’s day celebration on Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. Twania Nunis, an evangelist and author from Lonely Baptist Church in Little Rock, will be the guest speaker. Choir practice dates will be Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m.

Tabernacle Church of God In Christ, 2121 Havis St., will be holding their annual men’s and women’s day Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kenneth Thompson Sr. of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Russellville.

Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will be celebrating their annual women’s day Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Bennie Turner of Tate Temple Church of God in Christ.
