Anniversaries/Annuals

The Cedar Branch Cemetery Association will hold its annual homecoming service at Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 6172 Highway 190 East, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. For those unable to attend, memorials can be mailed to Kenny Ashcraft, 12350 Princeton Pike, White Hall, AR, 71602.

The Mount Nebo High Praise Chorale will celebrate its 12th anniversary at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Yorktown at 6:30 p.m. today. Guests include the Jacksonaires, Pure Purpose, Frenz and the Racy Brothers.

Psalms Camp in New Edinburg will host its annual Gospel Music Celebration Weekend July 27-28. Admission is free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. July 27 and concerts begin at 6 p.m. with guests including Adam Hill and New Highway, Smith Family and Joyful Spirit.

Events July 28 include free lessons for instruments such as guitar, mandolin, and banjo (bring your own instrument); a bake auction; and a 6 p.m. Bluegrass Gospel concert by the Turner Family from Mountain View. Details: Call 870-348-5429.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas will hold its anniversary and homecoming service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest minister.

Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., will hold the annual Mission Day service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Georgette Wiley from St. Paul will be the speaker.

New Bethel #1 Outreach Ministry, 1320 North Magnolia Street, will celebrate the 12th anniversary of their pastor and co-pastor, Revs. Edgard and La’Kreasha Franklin, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Patrick Lockett, pastor and apostle of New Community Church, will be the guest speaker.

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 S. Indiana St., will hold the annual Mission Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Cheryl Felder-Stuart, director of the Youth Department of the Arkansas Congress of Christian Education and the director of the Young Adult Division of the National Congress of Christian Education, will be the guest speaker.

New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will hold their Ushers’ Annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be the Rev. Aaron Johnson from Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Mount Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate its 129th anniversary and homecoming. A banquet honoring the “senior servants” of the church will be held at 6 p.m. today. The church will hold a special worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday where the Rev. Chestine Sims of Union AME Church in Little Rock will be the speaker.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 124th anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dwight Townsend, senior pastor of Longley Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow will host the annual Family and Friends Day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Don Hawkins from Barnett Chapel Church will be the guest speaker.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will present the 52nd annual Inspirational Adult Choir Anniversary Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of Newbirth Baptist Church.

Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 E. Seventh Ave., will celebrate its 24th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Isaiah Bennett, pastor of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, will be the guest speaker.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold their annual Family and Friends Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Willie Rogers, pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.

Concerts/Musicals

A debut concert featuring Keenon Coleman and Future Generation will be held at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., at 6 p.m. today. Guests include Renewed Generation and Tru Vessel.

Revivals

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold revival services Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church in Meroney.

First Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will hold their annual revival services with the following speakers at 7 nightly:

• Monday — The Rev. Ramon Hunter, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill

• Tuesday — The Rev. Aaron Johnson, pastor of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church

• Wednesday — The Rev. Terrance Williams, pastor of Living Word Baptist Church.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will hold the annual Laymen’s Revival with the following speakers at 7 nightly:

• Monday, the Rev. Lloyd Holcomb Jr., from Barraque Missionary Baptist Church

• Tuesday — The Rev. Darren Edgerson from St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church

• Wednesday — The Rev. Chris Mack from Highland Missionary Baptist Church.

Special Events

The pastor, Rev. Anthony Armstrong Sr., and Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will hold the church dedication service at 6 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

The Big Creek and Reedville District Congress of Christian Education will hold classes at Polk Chapel Baptist Church of Star City. Registration will be held Monday and Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Each course costs $25. The Rev. G.L. Sanders will be the lecturer.

Sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the following speakers — The Rev. Charles Atkins, speaking Monday; The Rev. Alvin Newburn II bringing the dean’s address Tuesday; The Rev. Larry Rodgers presenting the Congress President’s address Wednesday; and The Rev.Gerald Parker Sr. giving the commencement address Thursday.

Joseph Scott will preach his first sermon at Old St. James Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Rock of Faith Deliverance Church, 3108 E. Third Ave., will hold events for their Women Conference 2012. Day sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, and the closing event will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Speakers include Fratina Boatman from Decatur, Ga.; Gloria Collins from Milwaukee, Wisc.; and Cheryl Lancaster from Pine Bluff. The conference culminates at 3 p.m. Sunday and the speaker will be a pastor, Jenise “Sandy” Blake.

Women’s/Men’s Day

Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, will hold the annual Women’s Day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. Yolanda Pitts from Turning Point Outreach Ministry will be the motivational speaker.

Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Tarry will hold their annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Ervin “Ray” Morgan of Barraque Baptist Church in Pine Bluff will be the guest speaker.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold their annual Women’s Day services Sunday. Barbara Thomas will speak at 11 a.m. and Mary Coates from St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock, will speak at 3 p.m.

East End Church of God in Christ, 709 Virginia St., will hold their Men’s Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Joshua Shields, a deacon from East End Church of God in Christ.

First Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Dexter McDonnell of God’s Way Fellowship at Pine Bluff.

Vacation Bible School

New Beginnings Baptist Church, 8826 Old Warren Road, will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 nightly.

Youth

First Baptist Church of Dew Drop will hold their Youth Day services at 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be praise dancing and youth testimonies.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will have their annual Youth Day services at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will hold their Youth Day events beginning with Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. The annual Youth Day worship service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Terrance Williams, pastor of Living Word Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.
