Anniversaries/Annuals

First Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will hold their annual Mission Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Charles Helloms Jr. of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ladd.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will celebrate the 12th pastor’s anniversary of Rev. and Mrs. Charles Boyd at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Hank Wilkins IV, pastor of St. James United Methodist Church.

The Consolidated Saint Marion Baptist District Association will hold its annual Arkansas Baptist College Day Scholarship program at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be James L. Bumpus, dean of religious studies and Christian leadership at the college. All proceeds will benefit the Arkansas Baptist College Scholarship Fund.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will celebrate the second anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Johnny and Louise Williams, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr., pastor of New United Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. 38th Ave., will hold its annual Appreciation/Memorial Service for Men in Black at 3 p.m. Sunday.

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will celebrate its 147th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Jimmy Fisher, pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its 16th Mass Choir anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Leroy Spears, pastor of Union Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.

Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will celebrate the 17th anniversary of their pastor, Rev. Wiley Shelton, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jesse Jackson of Rose Hill Baptist Church at Meroney.

Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will celebrate its 122nd church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Brian Dodson, pastor of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, will be the guest pastor.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will celebrate its annual Usher Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Mark Stephens, pastor of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in McGehee.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the fourth anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Hosea and Janice Miller, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Highland Missionary Baptist Church, 1320 S. Peach St., will hold its annual Usher Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Darren Edgerson, pastor of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church. The church with the most representatives at this program will receive a $25 donation toward their usher ministry.

Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at Wabbaseka will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Luther and Rosetta Spratt, Sunday. At 11 a.m., Rev. Darren Edgerson, pastor of St. Peters Rock Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. At 3 p.m., Rev. Alvin Newburn II, pastor of Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Star City, will bring the anniversary sermon.

Concerts/Musicals

New Era Gospel Ministry will host a Gospel Fest at the Star City Town Square in Star City at 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be gospel groups, praise dancers, gospel rap artists, games and food and craft vendors. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs.

New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’Arc St., will hold a benefit program for 6-month-old Antonyiah Barnes, who was born with a rare birth defect. Her mother, LaShonta White, is trying to raise funds to take her to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, a spokesman said. The program will be held at at 6 p.m. Saturday and is sponsored by Men in Black, Patricia Barnes and Royal Haynes, and Sold Out for Jesus Ministries.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road, will hold its annual Women’s Day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. Bobbie Brooks from Marzel Missionary Baptist Church will be the motivational speaker. Women are asked to wear white.

There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will hold its annual Men’s Day service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jerry Williams, pastor of Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will hold its annual Men’s Day services Sunday. At 3 p.m., Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church in Star City, will be the guest speaker.

New Community Baptist Church, 321 N. Birch St., will hold its annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be George Calloway, bishop of St. John Baptist Church in El Dorado.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will hold their annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Robert Key, associate minister of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will hold their annual Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tonja Hudson, pastor of New Outreach Ministry in Star City, will be the guest speaker. Women are asked to wear white. Dinner will be served.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold their annual Women’s Day celebration. A choir rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday. Sunday, Martha Ollison from New Community Church in Pine Bluff will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. and Rev. Sammie Smith Jr., pastor of Union Hill Baptist Church in Rison, will be the guest minister at 3 p.m. Women are asked to wear white.

Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Florida St.***, will hold their final Women’s Day choir rehearsal at 7 p.m. Thursday. Women’s Day services will be held at 3 p.m. June 30. The colors will be black and pink.

New Jerusalem #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 1005 W. 12th Ave., will hold their Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Hazel Linton will be the keynote speaker.

New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’Arc St., will hold their annual Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Shana Boyland from Happy Home Baptist Church in Jefferson.

Revival

Greater Fellowship Ministries, 2401 S. Main St., will hold “Fresh Wind Revival” services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday. Judy Hines from White Plains, N.Y., will be the special guest.

Special Events

Canaan Christian Center, 7890 Middle Warren Road, will hold their 2013 Men’s Conference. On June 28, events will begin at 7 p.m., and on June 29 services begin at 9 a.m. Registration is $10 per person. The guest speakers will be Rev. William Shaw, pastor of Pleasant View Ministries in Pine Bluff; Rev. Victor Wynn, pastor of Remnant Church in Little Rock; Rev. Gregory Eichelberger, pastor of from New Genesis Church in Dermott; and Elder M.C. Johnson from the Canaan Christian Center in Pine Bluff.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministries, #2 Convention Center Drive (Ramada Plaza), will hold its Pastors’ Founders Celebration honoring the bishop and pastor, Shirley Sanders, at 4 p.m. Sunday. Mary Arnold from Epistle of God Church in Hamburg will be the speaker. Guests will also include psalmist Anita Smith and Encore of Fort Smith and Rev. Larry Smith and worship team from Marianna.

Wanda Lowe, a bishop from Monticello will bring a message at Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will hold an appreciation program for Maxine Hayes at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Tri-Church Fellowship will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jerusalem #2 Missionary Baptist Church, 1005 W. 12th Ave. The sermon will be delivered by Rev. Andrew Williams, pastor of Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

St. Peter Catholic Church, 207 E. 16th Ave., will have the Celebration of Confirmation at 9 a.m. Sunday with Bishop Anthony Taylor of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock. The confirmation will be held during the mass concelebrated by Rev. Anil Thomas, pastor of St. Peter.

The monthly worship services of the Pastoria Singing Union will be held at New Cheeks Chapel AME Church in Sherrill at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, #2 Convention Center Drive (Ramada Plaza), will host William “Bill” Poston, a teacher of the Hebrew language and culture classes and member of Great Harvest Church in Pocahontas.

Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will hold a benefit service for the Harris family at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Words of encouragement will be by Rev. Anthony Armstrong Sr., pastor of Unity church. Guests include Christland Faith of Harmony, Southeast Choir and First Baptist Male Choir

Vacation Bible School

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 Ohio St., will hold its Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m.

The Church of God, 7111 Shannon Road, will hold their Vacation Bible School for ages 4 through 12 Wednesday through Friday at 5:30 p.m. There will be a VBS graduation which will include carnival games, hot dogs and snacks at 11 a.m. June 29. To RSVP, call Tasha Terry at (501) 580-5211.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and True Harvest Missionary Baptist Church, both at Dumas, will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. at New Jerusalem.

Youth

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will hold its annual Youth Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Travis Harden, associate minister of Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.

Prairie Lake Baptist Church, 2611 S. Indiana St., will host their annual Youth Day Musical at 3 p.m. Sunday. Special guests include Old Morning Star, New Hope at Altheimer, Old St. James, New Town and Solomon Hill churches.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will hold their Youth Day Program at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Revival Center Church of God in Christ at Monticello will host its Youth Day at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Park in Monticello. The guest speaker will be Kaderick Jones, pastor of New Perspective Christian Church of Little Rock. There will also be free food, games, a performance by the Demon Slayers of Little Rock, and a special presentation by Malik Bryant of Crossett and the Revival Center Drama Department.

New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will hold their Youth Day services at 3 p.m. Sunday. The sermon will be given by Rev. Ronald Neal from New Bethel Church in Winchester.
