St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will celebrate their 142nd church anniversary Sunday. The 11 a.m. guest speaker will be Rev. Jonathan Mitchell from Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Tucker, and the 3 p.m. guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Thomas, pastor of Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will hold its annual Mission Service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Interim president of the Central District, Margaret Gaston from Barraque Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.


The International House of Prayer, 4106 W. 12th Ave., will host a musical program featuring the Mighty True Lights and other groups at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Meadowview Baptist Church near Sheridan will host a free concert featuring Dallas Rogers and Restored Trio at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Rogers, a professional singer, has been with groups such as Inspirations and Dixie Echoes Quartet.

Arkansas Convalescent Center, 6301 S. Hazel St., will be the site of an outside musical event at 10 a.m. Saturday. Groups will include Voices of Deliverance, the Johnson Family, Heavenly Hearts, Echo of Harmony and Virtuous.

Kingdom Builders Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will be the site of a musical event hosted by Tru Praise. Guests include Rev. T.W. Scott & Singing Rev’s of Little Rock, Pure N Heart of Star City, the Barnes Sisters of Pine Bluff and Future Generation.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Solid Foundation Nondenominational Church, 3811 W. Fourth Ave., will hold its annual Men’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Antonyo Reed of New Community Church, Rev. Jason Long, pastor of Faith Worship Center, and Rev. Timothy Davis of Holy Hill Church in Banks will be the featured speakers.

Mount Zion Baptist Church in Faith will hold its annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Charles Helloms from Grove Baptist Church in Ladd will be the speaker.

Unity Christian Fellowship Church, 2712 S. Bay St., will begin their annual women’s conference/workshop Friday with “Hour of Power” prayer and worship night. The conference will continue at 10 a.m. June 22; lunch will be served and prizes will be given away. The conference will conclude with a Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23.


Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will host a Fellowship Revival with Havis Chapel Church of Dumas and New Jerusalem Church at 7 pm. on these dates with the following speakers: Rev. Charles James, Monday; Rev. James Williams, Tuesday; and Rev. Archie Dolls, Wednesday.

A tent revival will be sponsored by Faith in Action Ministries at 317 S. Cherry St. Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. David Arnold of Summit, Okla., will be the guest speaker.

Special Events

Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will hold their Evangelistic Ministry Service at 3 p.m. Sunday. This event is held every third Sunday of the month.

Sonlite Ministries, 807 W. Sixth Ave., has changed the time of their Paul and Silas services to 10 a.m. Sundays. Prayer and bible study will be 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

The City-Wide Mission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barraque Street Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St.

New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 N. Lindell St., will hold an Evangelistic Workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday and June 26. Thelma Brandon, an evangelist from Kedron Church of God in Christ at Rison, will conduct a two-part workshop on evangelism.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will honor fathers at 11 a.m. Sunday.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, the Muhammad Study Group, 1314 Cherry St., will feature Jihad Muhammad, a minister and local representative of the Nation of Islam, lecturing on “Who will defend Farrakhan!” and Michael McCray, an attorney will discuss the plight of black farmers.

Vacation Bible School

New Fellowship Baptist Church, 1801 W. 17th Ave., will hold Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. Classes will be offered for all ages and discussions will consist of foundational biblical truth and real life situations.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold their Vacation Bible School Monday through Thursday at 6 p.m.


Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold their “Crazy Tie” Youth event at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Roderick Barnes from Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock will be the guest minister. Wearing unusual ties is encouraged.
