Anniversaries/Annuals

Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will celebrate their 116th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Donald Agee, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Truth and Love Worship Center Church of God in Christ, 2006 W. 13th Ave., will hold the anniversary revival celebration for the pastor and wife, Henry Hellums Sr. and Jereline Hellums, at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold their annual Family Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Richard Bifford, associate minister of Mount Bayou Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church at Tarry will celebrate the anniversary of its pastor, Rev. William Neal Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Ladd will hold their 82nd annual Mission Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Robert Willis Jr., pastor of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.

Members of St. Joseph, St. Peter and St. Raphael Catholic churches will commemorate the Feast of Corpus Christi with the ninth annual Procession of the Blessed Sacrament at 3 p.m. Sunday beginning at St. Peter’s, 207 E. 16th Ave., and proceeding to St. Joseph’s at Sixth Avenue and Walnut Street. No signs will be carried and the procession is silent except at designated stations. The public is invite to participate.

The Johnson Family, a musical group from Gould, will celebrate their anniversary starting with a musical program at 7 p.m. Saturday at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady. There will be a special service at the church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and Greg Lee will be the speaker. At 7 p.m. Sunday, there will be another musical program at 7 p.m. at the Dumas Singing Center in Dumas.

St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church at Montrose will celebrate 13 years with their pastor, Victor Dolls and his wife. A musical program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Rev. Donald Manning will speak at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mount Bayou Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will honor their pastor and wife, Rev. Lafayette Woods Sr. and the first lady and evangelist Gwendolyn Woods, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Jimmy Fisher, pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Jere Peterson, pastor of Victory Christian Center and Director of Victory Fellowship of Ministries in Tulsa, Okla., will make his annual visit to Share-a-Prayer and Word Church Fellowship, 4019 S. Main St., at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Concerts/Musicals

Hwy 7 will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Christian Life Church, 23 Starlite Drive.

Mount Zion Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold a musical benefit program for Louis Harris and Barbara Greer-Edwards at 7 p.m. Saturday. The event is sponsored by the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir.

Men’s/Women’s Day

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone will observe its annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Amelio Howard, pastor of Grace Temple Baptist Church, will be the guest minister.

St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate its annual Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Hazel Linton, pastor of New Cheeks Chapel AME and New Hope AME churches, will be the guest speaker. Women United for Christ will sing.

Allen Temple AME Church, 1123 Virginia St., will hold its annual Men’s Day Sunday. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Licentiate Karlos Knoble and the 3 p.m. speaker will be Rev. J.L. Morton from Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas. The Men in Black will sing.

New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 Ohio St., will observe Men’s Day Sunday. Rev. Lloyd Holcomb Jr., pastor of Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m.

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church at Reed will hold its annual Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Josephine Buffington from Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello will be the guest speaker.

Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will hold their annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Earl Glass, superintendent and pastor of There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, will be the guest speaker.

Special Events

Sonlite Ministries, 807 W. Sixth Ave., will begin holding their special Paul and Silas services at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will celebrate the 24th appreciation service of the pastor, Rev. C.L. Williams, and family, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. George Waters, pastor of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Faith will hold a Restoration Conference Tuesday through Thursday at 6 p.m. starting with intercessory prayer and 7 p.m. worship services. Rev. Gabriel Jackson, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 8011 S. Olive St., will hold a Love Day Appreciation Program for Rev. Sylvester Dunbar, assistant pastor, Sunday. Rev. Douglas Allen from Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff will give the 11 a.m. sermon, and Rev. Elbert Harris Jr., from Battle Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer,will give the 3 p.m. sermon.

Family Time Baptist Church Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the monthly Union Night of the Pine Bluff Quartet Union at 7 p.m. Sunday. Among those appearing are the Union Choir, Spiritualettes, Rice Spirituals, Mighty True Lights and Men in Christ.

Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will host Word and Fellowship by the Women’s Ministry Monthly Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Evelyn Willingham, a minister of Shikinah Glory Outreach Ministry, will be the guest speaker.

The Youth Department at Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will hold a Graduates and Retirees Program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Lee Willingham Jr. from Agape Church in Little Rock will speak and there will be a presentation of awards.

Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will hold their First Wednesday night services at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Willie Laws from New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church will be the speaker.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 Catalpa St., will hold a missions service at 7 p.m. Sunday. Elder George Jordan, associate elder and president of missions at Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, will be the guest speaker. Michelle Johnson will be the guest soloist.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will hold a Communion Service at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Vacation Bible School

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at Varner will hold their Vacation Bible School Sunday through Wednesday. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday and at 6:45 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

St. Peter Catholic Church, 207 E. 16th Ave., will hold their summer Vacation Bible School June 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The deadline for pre-registration is Saturday.
