New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1005 W. 12th Ave., will celebrate Rev. Joe Scott’s 14th pastoral anniversary. Rev. Jimmy Fisher, pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker on Saturday at 7 p.m. Rev. Leon Williams Sr., pastor of True Vine E Church, will be the guest speaker on Sunday at 3 p.m.

First Baptist Church-Dew Drop, 1701 N. Bryant St., will celebrate the 19th anniversary of the pastor and wife, T.L. Breamsey Sr. and Jackie L. Breamsey. Pastor’s wife night will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. Virginia Desmuke of Breath of Praise Church in Roundrock, Texas, will be the guest speaker. Sunday at 11 a.m. the guest speaker will be Carl Desmuke of Breath of Praise Church. Sunday at 3 p.m., the pastor’s anniversary celebration will feature guest speaker Rev. Larry Battles, pastor of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.

Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dermott will hold the seventh appreciation service for the pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Glover, Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Craig Collier of the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville will be the speaker.

Special Events

St. James United Methodist Church, 900 S. University Drive, will host recording artist Dedric L. Jones’ birthday bash and “Churching with the Pastors” concert Sunday at 6 p.m. Participating pastors include the Rev. Henry “Hank” Wilkins, the host pastor, Michael Williams, Jason Long, Christopher L. Mack, Glenn Barnes, Frank Harris Jr., L.D. Shelton, Gabriel Jackson, Derren Edgerson, Johnny Smith and Donald Agee.

The City Wide Mission will meet Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. 38th Ave.

Canaan Christian Center, 7890 Middle Warren Road, will continue a prophetic seminar featuring Leonard Ford, a prophet, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration is $10 per person. For more information call 534-7378.

St. Paul AME Church in Arkadelphia will hold the third annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration Sunday at 6 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Robinson and Chosen will be the special guests.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill will hold an installation of officers service Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Joseph Valliant Jr., the pastor, will be the speaker and conduct the services.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold an installation of officers service Sunday at 11 a.m.

Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will hold an installation of officers service Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry C. Battles, the pastor, will deliver the sermon. Also, Mount Nebo will present a bible study course entitled “Spiritual Maturity, How to Grow in Christ,” Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 from 6-7 p.m. The instructor will be the pastor. The course is free and open to the public.

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church in Jefferson will hold an installation service Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Theodis Edwards of Church of the Living God in White Hall will be the guest speaker.


Southside Singing Center, 5400 W. 15th Ave., will have its monthly singing union meeting Sunday at 7 p.m. Guests include the White Family, Shinning Stars, Mighty Gospelettes, Sensational Soul Revivals and many more.


The Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will hold a winter restoration campmeeting with the following ministers speaking at 7:15 p.m. on these dates — Jason Davis from St. Peter’s Rock on Tuesday; Anthony Kentle from Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday; Maurice Tatum form Antioch Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock on Thursday and Royce Jackson Jr. from Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Yorktown on Friday.

Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will hold a revival Wednesday through Friday at 7 p.m. Rev. Freddie Heard, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Grady, will be the guest speaker.

Womens/Mens Day

Mt. Bayou Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer will host its annual men’s day celebration Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. D.L. Richardson, pastor of First Baptist Church in North Little Rock, will be the guest speaker.


Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Varner will hold its annual youth day observance Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Xavier Diamond of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas will be the guest speaker. Guest churches include Church of God Pentecostal in Grady, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow and others.
